Maximum Reach Handbook of Tables

This handbook of tables has been compiled to help the crane operator and estimator determine boom and jib combinations quickly and accurately. It should be used with a lifting capacity chart.

"Maximum Reach" is defined as the greatest horizontal distance that can be reached across a structure by a crane equipped with a boom of known length."

The first objective of this handbook was to solve a large number of combinations involving structures of known heights and booms of known lengths for the "maximum reach, " then tabulate them for quick reference.

Secondly, it was desired to solve the same combinations for just "reach" by varying the operating radius. "Reach" is the horizontal distance across a structure when the rig is positioned so that "maximum reach" does not occur. This was done by using various values for the distance from the structure to the center pin.
