Made seven trips to Nanjing, PRC from Aug 2001 thru August 2004 for a total of 11 months on site.  Initial requirement was to verify that an existing dock and a 600 Te luffing crane mounted on it would be capable of offloading 800 Te Vessels.  Both were certified after a through inspection, repairing and load testing was accomplished.  The remainder of the trips was to review offloading, transportation and erection plans of all subcontractors on site, and to monitor the actual lifts.

Responsible for rigging input for the request for the heavy lift proposal, technical evaluation of the heavy lift proposals, review/approval of the heavy lift rigging and transportation plans, supervised load out in Japan and erection at site for the 1325 tonne HCU reactor. The reactor was off loaded from the ocean going ship by a 2000 tonne revolver crane mounted on a heavy lift ship and set on self propelled modular transporters, moved to the foundation, and erected using two 66 meter high towers and four 600 tonne strand jacks.

Responsible for the review/approval of stowage, transportation and rigging drawings, supervised the load out at the fabrication yard in Batangas, Philippines, onto a heavy lift ship, the off loading at Singapore from the heavy lift ship onto self propelled modular transporters positioned on barges, the off loading from the barges at the site, the transportation to the foundations and the erection of 18 equipment modules that ranged in weight up to 2000 tonnes. All modules were off loaded in Singapore using ships gear except for the 2000 tonne module, which was a ro/ro operation between the ship and the barge.

Responsible for all rigging functions, i.e. transportation and lifting studies, prepared an estimate for the total costs of transporting and erecting all plant equipment over 30 tons which was used in conjunction with a total lump sum job estimate, prepared a request for proposal and assisted in the bid evaluations for a heavy lift contractor, designed the lifting attachments for all plant equipment (heaviest was a 1266 metric ton reactor), reviewed the contractors rigging drawings, and prepared a design and cost estimate for a temporary dock for off loading heavy plant equipment at the site. Supervised erection of heaviest plant equipment at the site.
